71) Housing Benefits Long Delay

August 8th 2014

O.k so I've just been down to the housing benefits department inquiring as to why a "change of circumstances" has taken 3 weeks, thus far and why i still i have received no money, to pay rent.

Ironically there was a set of graphs on the desk that i noticed whilst sitting there. A copy of which can be found here....

If you notice the top left set of graphs "changes in circumstances" on the aforementioned link it says that the target is 9 days to deal with a change in circumstances, and that this target was met. This is for June.

I had a similar three week delay earlier in the year around march, (from memory) where on the aforementioned graph it depicts that it took around 4 days to deal with claims.

It in fact took 3 weeks, to deal with my claim, so i would like this to be corrected. (15 working days or so.) *Note to self* Read back over facebook posts, to confirm this*

The delay this time has been over 3 weeks...thus far. I apparently made the change of circumstances request on July 14th. It is, at time of writing, the 8th August. This is 25 days, to date. (20 working days).

I asked to talk to a manager, and ended up talking to a nice enough lady called Leanne. (Credit where credit's due). She said the HB payment would probably (she could not say for certain) be in my bank by next Friday.

For the record that will be a total waiting time of 32 days. (25 working days).

As there are no figures for July yet available, it is too early to comment, however if my earlier encounters in a "change of circumstances" situation are anything to go by, it would be reasonable to assume that these figures also may be severely understated.

Dan Kinobi If the figures are indeed correct, then i would like to know why my claim specifically has taken so long to deal with, on multiple occasions now.

Edited for spelling 28/10/15
